This is would allow mass mailings out to people and give a greater degree of flexibility for those using the board. We would keep this board and have a link to direct people to this new group.

I have created a group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/leedsknitterati and an accompanying email address (leedsknitterati@yahoogroups.com) based on this suggestion. We can then do our best to set it up like it was at Meetup. More moderators and the like can be set up-- I am not trying to take over as organiser but thought it would be good to have a group set up so we can all have a look at it before we make a decision. I have put a link to the new group below.

If it is thought to be a good suggestion, please join the new group. If you think it is a rubbish idea and that we should continue in blog form only, please leave your comments in the comments section in order to gauge opinion.

Thanks,
Erin

Click to join leedsknitterati

Next Knitterati Meetup: Wed 18 May

Hello everyone,

Just a reminder that the next Knitterati meetup is scheduled for Wednesday, 18 May.

RSVP to comments if you please!

Reminder: Knitting Meetup Tomorrow (3 May) Evening!

Hi Everyone,

This is just a reminder that the meetup starts at 7pm tomorrow (3 May) in the second floor coffeeshop of Borders (on Briggate).

I noticed the other day that they have the newest editons of Simply Knitting and Interweave Knits on the shelves, plus we have a poster advertising our group down by the knitting books. (featured in the latest issue of 'bust' for all you third wavers out there)

Her website is at http://www.microrevolt.org/, and from there you can find out about the Nike Blanket project, which is inviting knitted squares to be submitted to make a protest blanket against Nike (and other large corperations') use of sweatshop labour. She is keen to utilise knitters as protest since knitters understand the labour process that goes into knitting a garment & thus are a meaningful group to mobilise in the sweatshop issue. There are currently no squares submitted from the UK, and she would be thrilled to have your involvement. Double check on the website, but i think its as simple as knitting a 4"x4" square and sending it over to her. if a bunch of us did it we could all post them together. I for one am certainly interested.

Also, Cat is working on the knitPro Needlecraft Art Show: http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro & would love some UK submissions for that if any of you are interested.Hope this info sounds of interest to you, as it seems Cat is doing some really fantastic work & it'd be great if she could somehow become linked with the awesome knitters and crafters in the UK. And if you're not interested in her projects then do check the site out anyway, as the knitPro software seems rather exciting for knitting patterns.

Emilyx
